Barbie & Doug Whitworth
Barbie and Doug live on a 35- acre property across from the ocean on the West Coast in Canada. They enjoy the outdoors, gardening and flowers.
They are both graduates of a Horticulture program and have a favorite hobby of running a small greenhouse where they create moss hanging flower baskets.
They enjoy animals and have domestic dogs and cats but also enjoy visits by local wildlife such as deer, bear, grouse, pheasants and eagles.
They also have a young son at home and family that live close by.
Family is a very important part of their lives and having more family time was one of their original reasons for moving from the corporate lifestyle to becoming the owner of a home business.
Barbie Whitworth
Barbie's University education background was in the areas of Nutrition and Sports Psychology; and Marketing and Leadership.
For the past 25 years Barbie has been a Professional Rider and Trainer in the hunter/jumper sector of the equestrian industry. As a highly competitive and successful professional, Barbie rode jumping horses for many owners and trainers throughout North America.
After many years of experience in the equestrian industry Barbie became a Senior Official as an Equestrian Judge for Hunters and Equitation in North America. Barbie is also an excellent teacher and became a regularly sought after Equestrian Clinician.
She has coached athletes from the novice to the elite levels.
Barbie was invited by the Canadian Equestrian Federation to participate in the first NCCP level 4 Coaching program in Canada. She completed this program and achieved the Level 4 status. This is a level that as of yet, has been achieved by very few people in the equestrian sport in Canada.
Doug Whitworth
Doug was President of his University Fraternity. He became a University graduate in History (BA) and also earned a law degree from the University of British Columbia in Canada. Doug practiced as a Litigation Lawyer for 35 years and received the honour of an appointment as a QC (Queens Counsel) by the Attorney General of BC. He practiced civil litigation specifically in the fields of insurance law and medical malpractice - during the last five years Doug was the counsel of record for the Canadian Medical Protective Association for the province of BC. Doug was also a lecturer on insurance law.
Doug served as President of political riding associations and has been campaign manager of federal elections. He was co-chairman for BC of a National Political Leadership campaign.
In his early years Doug was Junior Badminton Champion for BC for singles and was a Doubles Champion for the Pacific Northwest. He was also the 100-Yard Champion for Track and Field for Greater Vancouver, BC in Canada.
Doug has strong ties with the Church. He was Legal Assessor and Chancellor for the Anglican Church of Canada for the Diocese of New Westminster. He has been a Church Warden and is presently a treasurer of the local Parish. His caring for people led him to become the Director and Treasurer of the Cooper Care Society - a public care facility for the aged.
